Marvin & Rico （4）: Marvin’s Identity Was Stolen. So Were 272 million Others. Are You?
Marvin sits at the kitchen table, staring at his laptop intensively. Rico perches on the back of a chair, eating crackers.
Marvin: (not looking up) “Rico. Come here. Look at this.”
Rico: (mouth full) “If it’s another email from the prince of Nigeria, I swear — “
Marvin: “It’s worse.”
Rico hops closer. Marvin points at the screen.
Rico: “What am I looking at? It just says, ‘Your data was part of a breach —272million Social Security numbers exposed. That’s… that’s a lot of numbers.”
Marvin: “Mine is one of them, Rico. Someone out there has my Social Security number. My actual identity.”
Rico: “So what’s the worst that could happen?”
Marvin: “They could open credit cards. Take out loans. Commit crimes. In my name. I could wake up tomorrow and find out I bought a boat in Florida and started a llama farm in Idaho.”
Rico: “…Would the llama farm be profitable?”
Marvin: “RICO.”
Rico: “Right. Sorry. Crisis. What should you do now — call the bank? Freeze your credit card?”
